Dress Code

A neat personal appearance is an incentive toward a positive learning environment, better discipline, and a good self- image.
St. Raphael Catholic School uniform colors include navy blue bottoms with white or burgundy tops or the burgundy/gray/white plaid used for jumpers and skirts. The uniforms can be purchased through these uniform companies: www.saintraphaelshirts.com, French Toast, Land’s End, or The Toggery or at the local stores that offer dress code choices. The school plaid is available only through The Toggery. Burgundy shirts are available only through The Toggery and www.saintraphaelshirts.com.

CONSIDERATIONS
1.    Dress students in clothes that are easily managed during toileting for preschoolers.
2.    Dress students in clothing that is washable and durable enough to permit vigorous play.
3.    Have students wear shoes that are sturdy and protect the child’s feet. Sneakers with socks are the best choice. Sandals, flip flops, and open toed shoes can be hazardous and are NOT allowed.
4.    Students should wear clothing that is appropriate for weather conditions. Children spend time outdoors everyday. Be sure to send jackets, sweaters, coats, gloves, hats as needed.
5.    Please label all clothing with names.

White Peter Pan collared shirt
White oxford button down shirt
Burgundy or white collared golf shirt, crew neck, or turtleneck long sleeve shirt.
Burgundy or gray spirit T-shirts: Elementary students may wear them every Wednesday and Pre-K students may wear them any day.

*Shirts must not have any brand logos.
*ONLY SRCS logo is acceptable.
*Shirts must remain tucked in.

Navy pants or walking shorts (no denim or cargo pants)
Navy jumper (no velour, velvet, denim)

*Shorts should not cover the knees.
*Pants cannot be cut off to be used as shorts unless they are re-hemmed.
*Shorts or leggings must be worn under skirts or jumpers.
*No jeans, sweat pants, or flared pants can be worn under skirts or jumpers. White, gray or navy leggings or tights may be worn under skirts or jumpers.

Navy, White or Burgundy cardigan, vest or pullover sweaters.
Burgundy, Gray, White, or Navy plain sweatshirts NO HOODS ALLOWED (no decorations or writing unless SRCS logo) Navy, brown or black belts
Solid navy, white or burgundy socks without logos must be worn.
Solid white, navy, brown or black rubber-soled shoes that have ties or straps or sneakers should be worn.

*Shoes with neon, florescent colors, or lights and novelty and/or distracting shoes are not allowed.
*Shoes that leave scuff marks, boots, sandals, and other “open” style shoes are NOT allowed.
*Weather-appropriate boots are only allowed for outside recess; school shoes must be worn inside.
*Sneakers are required for PE days!

HAIR
All students are to keep their hair clean and neat at all times. Boys must keep their hair out of their eyes. Girls must keep bangs out of their eyes and long hair out of their face. Neither boys nor girls may have “fad” hair. Hair accessories must be the color of uniforms (burgundy, navy, gray, or white).    Administrator will make final decision if hair style is a distraction and will advise parents.

MAKE-UP/JEWELRY
Make-up is not permitted. Only clear nail polish may be worn. Neither boys nor girls are to wear excessive accessories or jewelry, such as multiple large necklaces, rings or bracelets. Girls may only wear small gold, silver, clear, white, navy or burgundy stud earrings. If a teacher feels accessories are distracting, the student will be asked to remove the item(s).
